About Us

How it all started

The Museum was formed in 2005 at with the intention of collecting, preserving and displaying to the public,  military artefacts from 1900 to the present day, Located for the first four years at a top secret Mustard factory (FFD 1) Barnham Thetford also the site where the first Tank crews were trained before the battle of Cambria. Here the Museum grew from a small collection with one building to take over the whole location. As the collection grew it became harder to house and it was realised that access to the public was an issue, being at a remote location, So in 2008 it was decided to move the museum to a more accessible location where it would be able to grow to its full potential

Old Location: Little heath,Barnham, Suffolk

Little heath site: Where it all started

Where we are now

Snetterton Park

The new location: Snetterton heath

The new Location has excellent access from the A11 and as it is already a visitor attraction with over 1,300,000. visitors a year through its gates. We feel sure that public access to the Museum and Collection will be considerably improved. For the 2009 and 2010 seasons we have created two new exhibition rooms with displays of uniform, personal equipment. Anti tank weapons and a new outside display area with Tanks, Trucks and Artillery. This move also helps the Museum to complete its work towards accreditation with the Museums Libraries and Archives Council and enables our future expansion plans

What Next

At the moment the museum is designing and planning construction of a new permanent home for the collection at this location. Please see the Future page for more details
